Wattpad day 3: not much to get excited about

It’s three days now on Wattpad’s Featured. The number of reads has increased by only 37%, and is attributable mostly to readers working their way through the chapters: the number of unique readers has gone up by only 46 (22%). Not overwhelming. Reader age and gender have remained constant.

I’ve gained readers in another 11 countries.

As noted in my earlier posts, the country demographic is difficult to analyze beyond seeing where you have readers. Why? Well, for starters the data is in percentages (that also add up well past 100%), so as you gain readers across more countries, you appear to lose readers in those countries where you already have readers. One can really only look to sudden drops to get any sense of where one might be losing readers, but even then it could simply be a matter of those readers finishing the book and moving on: there have been no sudden dips in the reader engagement graph. The biggest drops were in Mexico (from 14.286% to .197%) and New Zealand (7.692% to .197%). One can also look to see where one might be gaining readers, since a significant increase in any one country, despite the spread over more countries, would appear to point to a gain. In this respect I’ve acquired a few more readers in the important U.S. market, but nothing to get excited over.

I did, however, receive one wonderful piece of reader feedback: “I haven’t read very much of this but I can already tell that you are a FANTASTIC writer! I can tell this will be good.”
